I sincerely doubt you'd remember it

Gold records line the walls of the shithole that I rent
the fame is gone and the money spent

I remember
a golden Autumn evening on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry
singing songs to a sold-out crowd of admiring eyes

Was a time when the world was all adoring
never knew a lonely morning
now I'm a man
that my own mother wouldn't recognize

It's been ten days at least since I shaved my ugly
and twice as long since I left my place

I spend the time committing songs to my four-track
laying down the demos of a comeback

The time has come to share these future hits I've writ
then I'll take these pills and I'll sleep a bit
